Thinning Out

September 5, 2026 By PastorJWMacFarlane

Get ready for something that is going to trigger a host of emotions!  A report was recently released, composed by 11 “experts.”  Their introductory remarks set the tone.  “We may be living in the most critical century in human history. Unprecedented population size, resource consumption, and technological power have placed us in a most precarious position. While we have achieved significant progress in many areas—improving lifespan and quality of life, reducing child mortality, alleviating poverty, expanding access to education and upholding human rights—our collective impact upon the planet’s ecosystems has become overwhelming and unsustainable.”1

What has caused this?  According to them, there’s simply too many people on the planet.  There are currently 8.3 billion people living on planet Earth.  The way to achieve sustainability is by “slowing and gradually reversing population growth to ∼4 billion or less by 2200, while moderating per capita impacts.”2

“Global environmental problems are caused by people, nothing else. The more of us there are, the greater our overall economic demands and the greater the associated environmental problems,” the authors asserted.

They draw the conclusion, therefore, that “in the long run, population growth itself is unsustainable.”3

In other words, in the next 174 years, we have to figure out how to get rid of more than 4 billion people.

How might that be accomplished?  Here’s my ideas of how this might play out.

  • About 60 million people die every year.
  • 132 million were born in 2025. That is over twice the number of deaths.  You know what that means, right?
  • More abortions are necessary. Abort as many non-viable fetal tissues as you can because they aren’t really a human life.
  • Regulate the number of children a family can have. If you wonder how this can be accomplished, study the history of China.
  • Currently, there are 830 million people who are considered elderly – 65 and older. Just think of the cost savings if they were euthanized!  Medicare and Social Security wouldn’t be needed.
  • 3 billion have disabilities. In Hitleresque fashion, it would cleanse the Aryan race and remove those who are just a drain on our resources.
  • Let’s see…who else needs to go? We have a lot of sick people in the world.  Many have cancer, diabetes, heart problems, and much more.  Instead of treating all these illnesses, let’s provide a humane way out of their suffering.  Euthanasia centers could spring up all over the world.  It could have a drive-thru vibe and make it as common as ordering a burger.
  • And what about those religious people? They contribute nothing to society except their backwards ideas and outdated beliefs.

I know that those reading this are appalled by my suggestions but am I really that far off the mark?  Our world is already trying some of these things.  In just the United States alone, there are only 13 states where no elective abortions are permitted.  Other states permit abortions with varying wait times between the time of deciding on an abortion to the time of actually having it.

Instead of euthanasia, we have 12 states that permit assisted suicide.  And I know this is a bit of conspiracy theorist coming out in me, but I must scratch my head and wonder at the medical profession today.  When you hear the stories of people who die before ever being able to be seen by the doctor, you have to wonder if any of that is intentional.

Church, I have a great idea that could help reduce the world population.  It’s a two-step process.  First, evangelism.  Matthew 28:19-20 says, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:  (20)  Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”  When the early church began, 8,000 were saved in a relatively short amount of time.  Imagine what would happen in our world if each Christian won just one soul to Jesus this week.  Step one:  bring people to Jesus.

Second, RAPTURE.  You want to see the world’s population reduced in a flash?  1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 says, “But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.  (14)  For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.  (15)  For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.  (16)  For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:  (17)  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.  (18)  Wherefore comfort one another with these words.”

Real quick, the world’s population is going to thin out!  And if anyone is still thinking about making the planet more sustainable, I’d suggest you read what happens AFTER the church is raptured.  Revelation 4-19 tells the story.

I do not ever worry about the environmental collapse of the planet or of some disaster destroying the Earth.  I already know that’s not going to happen until the Lord causes it to happen.  Allow the Scriptures to direct your thoughts, not the writings of those who obviously don’t know the Word of God and have “worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.” (Romans 1:25)
