It Matters To Him About You

October 17, 2025 By PastorJWMacFarlane

An anonymous author wrote the following poem:

Lord, I’m so discouraged
I don’t know what to do
I have so many burdens
And I gave them all to you.

But you didn’t take them Jesus
Will you tell me why that’s so’
The answer’s simply little one
Because you won’t let go.

Doesn’t that hit us where we all live?!?  This is very convicting.  Why do we have the audacity to accuse God of not caring for our needs when we never left the burdens with Him in the first place?  One man from Christian history shows us what leaving our burdens with the Lord looks like.

“George Mueller (1805-1898) built many orphanages at Ashley Down, England. Without a personal salary, he relied only on God to supply the money and food needed to support the hundreds of homeless children he befriended in the name of Christ. A man of radiant faith, he kept a motto on his desk for many years that brought comfort, strength, and uplifting confidence to his heart. It read, “It matters to Him about you.” Mueller believed that those words captured the meaning of 1 Peter 5:7 which says, “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”1

Many examples could be given that illustrate the great faith Mueller demonstrated.  His willingness to pray and trust the Lord was rewarded with miraculous answers.  His life was truly a testament to the blessings of walking close to the Lord.

Run the clock ahead about 100 years and a lady named Audrey Mieir entered the world.  Originally from Leechburg, Pennsylvania, she moved to Los Angeles.  An accomplished pianist, she also became a song writer and choir conductor for a large ministry.  Mueller’s story inspired her to write a song that has been sung over the years in our church.

It matters to him about you

Your heartaches your sorrow he shares

Regardless of what you may do

He wants you He loves you, he cares

Oh yes, it matters to him about you

Believe it because it is true

Cling to his hand, He’ll understand

For it matters to Him about you.

Although God has millions of souls to see about

Although the sun, the moon, the stars are in his care

How wonderful to know wherever you may go

He can be reached just by a whispered prayer.

Incidentally, Mieir wrote another hymn – more of a chorus – that we cherish and sing:  His Name Is Wonderful.  It seems like a fitting song to sing after we’ve acknowledged how much He cares for us and loves us.

Today, take the words of this poem and apply them to your life.

Be not troubled with thoughts of the morrow,
Of duties you surely must do.
On the Lord cast your burden of sorrow;
It matters to Him about you!

Be not weary when trials are given,
But trust Him to carry you through.
He will make all a pathway to heaven;
It matters to Him about you!

“I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.  (5)  They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed.  (6)  This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.  (7)  The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.”  (Psalms 34:4-7)
